Mind Blowin….

One of my favorite tech geeks is more-less alive, more less his intriguing quotes that have stayed long even after his death. “Keep thinking different” is one of my favorite quotes from Steve Jobs (RIP). He never settled for anything usual, he always looked for the undone or unprecedented things that missed in the tech world, and always tried to make something extra out of the ordinary. Known for having invented the computer mouse among many other inventions that he was able to accomplish during his lifetime. Famous quote: “richest place on earth being the grave” sounds more than true, and one would wonder why that is, its simple to note a bunch of people’s brain or thinking abilities are used no more all lied to. If there is one asset that mankind has, its the mind and the best way to utilize is through thinking breeding into lots of great idea leading to a think tank.
Think Tank Rwanda is an online network aimed at bringing the best out of young bright minds of many youth in Rwanda. This is to be accomplished through the online discussion forums, writing of articles and also sharing videos.
The online forums will have a discussion questions posted and every youth around the globe will be able to participate actively in the discussions.
In a recent statement by His Excellency Paul Kagame, he recommended Africans to write their own stories and arguably disliked the fact that the west defines and writes our own stories. He (Kagame) was compelling and calling upon fellow Africans (Rwandans Included) to write their own stories and that we know how to tell our stories better. With our articles section of our online network, we will feature articles written by mostly youth that will be aimed at brainstorming ways of how we can be apart of the development process of our country. Articles can be written on issues ranging from social, economic, technological, health and many others.
With this many articles and forums discussions, this will create a tank of many thoughts and ideas from different Rwandan youth around the globe, leading to a global think tank.
Our vision is for Think Tank Rwanda to be a platform for individuals to share their ideas and discuss current issues. The intended result is for TTR to be a reliable source of information on where investments and improvements are most needed. Also To provide a forum of expression and create a tank of creative and constructive thoughts/ideas coined by the Rwandan Youth that bring about the development of Rwanda. This will not only give voice to the youth but also develop a sense of reasoning among the youth, and most importantly keep the youth updated on issues affecting the future of Rwanda in particular, Africa, and the world over!

Rwanda, a Modern Day Miracle

The Land of a thousand Hills is a place that reigns with beauty. After a tragic and epic turmoil that the country went through during the 1994 Genocide, it’s very difficult and hard to believe that the country is what it is right now. Around this time of June in 1994, thousands if not close to a million people were being slaughtered and massacred mercilessly, the country was in total despair, hopelessness filled many faces of those who survived, and the economy was completely shattered down, the country was on its Knees.

From scratch the country began rebuilding, from the knees the country began to stand on its toes, the journey of development began, a journey that indeed was a tough one, one that required courage, character, charisma and determination. Much had to be done yet little was available to accomplish the task, with no man power, human resource, not even enough natural resources – it has been indeed an uphill task of rebuilding such an economy that was completely in ruin.

As the journey to recovery, reconciliation and development unfolds, its been only 17years down the road and a lot looks to be accomplished, yet as well a lot more awaits in Stock. The master-minder and driving force being the famous “Vision 2020” a plan that was initiated in 1998-99 acting as a road map to the goals the country intends to achieve. Almost half way to 2020, the country remains steady on the course and continues to achieve most of the goals.

Rwanda has a stood out to be an example to many countries now, with its success in handling reconciliation through Gacaca courts after such a devastating political era that had divided Rwandans along tribal conflict, infrastructure development, environmental conservation with one the cleanest cities Kigali in the region, health insurance policy covering almost 80% of the population and being one of the best business hubs in the region, with zero tolerance to corruption and guaranteed security – all this in one place one country Rwanda, a land of a thousand hills which had a thousand problems, but now with a thousand achievements. Rwanda is indeed modern day Miracle
